It seems to be that the better path forward is to default to encryption on
atleast laptops and add support for LVM to GNOME Disks rather than moving
away from LVM with no real plan to handle encryption without it
As noted earlier in the thread, disk encryption does not require nor
even use LVM. It uses device mapper (specifically dm-crypt).
