If all else fails and you're in a real hurry, save your work and run something like "kill -s 15 -1" to ask all your processes to be (gracefully?) ended. This should drop you back to your greeter. I acknowledge this is a dirty solution, but if you haven't other options this may serve you better than rebooting every time.

According to the bug, it's a problem with lxdm, so one possible workaround is to use a different login manager. Fedora has a bunch of them, including (but not limited to): gdm, lightdm, kdm, sddm -- Rex
