Hi there,
We get some requests about creating new teams, changing coordinators,
dealing with maintainers, transifex…
The ones really able to take actions are the FLSCo members[0], right?
We didn't have any election since Spring 2008 (Fedora 9), and I can
read "From time to time, at least once every 3 Fedora releases, the
entire membership of FLSCo will stand for re-election".
You've done lots of work, but there is more do to. There will always
be. If it's fine for you, that works.
Spending lots of time helping new translators and maintainers, I think
that I could help the FLP more by joining the FLSCo. This is more a
request than an application as what I am actually doing does not need
really need an official status (yeah translators, you could help us
all!). I am actually one of the Fedora Project maintainers at
transifex.net, but don't think that I should approve/cancel new team
creation for example. I also try not to do too much, as people start
referring to me for really specific questions, that IMHO only rely to
the FLSCo (like team creation, changing teams coordinator…)
What's your opinion? I am sure many translators don't even know that
we have a steering committee.

Heya!
Short summary: Discussing before switching the translation system of some
guides.
After spending many hours in the merge issue between our old teams and the
transifex.net ones, it is still an active task.
Thanks to involved contributors, it is moving forward, there are already some
projects fully merged.
Willing to help with the IQSG (installation quick start guide), I noticed an
issue in the transifex config[1], which leads me to a zanata config file and the
corresponding git commits.
A bit of history.
A while back, we were using our own Transifex instance, which was not sticking
to the upstream releases. It was a mess with projects unavailable and other
issues.
There were 2 solutions:
- Migrating to transifex.net, the online hosted service maintained by the
Transifex team,
- Moving to an other system (in our infra or somewhere else).
Some wanted to try Zanata. There where a RH instance set for this purpose[2].
After many discussions, it has been decided to move all our projects to
transifex.net.
Few upstream projects choose for specific reasons to move to an other service,
and even to Zanata (1 or 2). And few others just stops dealing with translations.
Yes, changing the translation platform is a pain for both, maintainers and
translators.
Nowadays, we are close to have fully integrated all projects to transifex.net
(still some merge concerning docs[3]).
So here we are, with translations done through transifex.net for the projects
correctly set up, the other one needs attention ([4]?).
/end of history
The IQSG is not correctly set up.
But we just saw on the git log
"* fb03c3c Adding zanata config file"
this is… weird without other notice.
On the Zanata instance, we could see:
Description Creation Date Status
Fedora Installation Quick Start Guide 19 juin 2012 Active
Fedora Installation Guide 19 juin 2012 Active
I just asked more info on IRC, and it appears that we need to discuss/define how
we deal with our translation platform, and let our maintainers explain why they
need to move somewhere else.
nb has reverted the ZANATA commits in the above guides, to avoid mistakes.
@maintainers, could you please explain your needs/wishes?
Cheers,

Hi there,
Since our migration to transifex.net, some teams have lost their
translations because a new team was created (thanks to language mapping
in transifex.net)
There are still some project that need to be merged.
I've written a script[1] used to parse all guides at TXN, and print the
language code which have translations but are not associated to any
teams.
Please find attached the results.
Limitations:
- it was against the fedora-docs release only, not against
all docs! I could have used an other script for that.
I have it around but I would prefer our guides to be on
the fedora-docs release. This refers to[3].
Should I add all in this fedora-docs release? I think so, but
we never finished that…
Should I add all in this fedora-docs release? I think so, but
we never finished that…
There could be an other way, but I think that I've more than needed.
This list should be checked with the Misha's one[2].
we really need the maintainers to act!
Some guides are completly translated but using the wrong language code,
we can't publish nor re-use translations.
I think we need a clear list of which l_code have to be merged in which
one, the thread [2] should helps.
@maintainers, please ask if you need help for that!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for the welcomes. As promised, the F17 version of the Fedora
Power Management Guide is now ready for translation.
The Transifex page is here:
https://fedora.transifex.net/projects/p/fedora-power-management-guide/
And the guide itself is here:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/Fedora/17/html/Power_Management_Guide/i…
This is my first time working with Transifex, so please let me know if
anything is incorrect or could otherwise be improved.
Thanks,
Jack

Something went wrong with Anaconda translations, and before filing a
bug report I want to ask you if the Spanish translations is the only
one affected.
I remember I have tested Anaconda in April, 5th [1], and everything
went fine as I said in the Test Results, but in the F17 GA x86_64 DVD,
I see the buttons Back and Next, which surprises me because those two
buttons labels were translated many releases ago!
There are also many, many other untranslated strings (please read my
test results, I always participate in anaconda translations and
testing).
Do you translators see the same results in other languages?
