Not doing so means we either need to a) rip out the capability b) not handle errors c) only give a generic "Error" type of thing rather than useful error messages d) don't mark the strings for translation and have them show up in English only None of which feel all that right to me. Need to break string freeze for system-config-samba bugfix

Hi there, I've already built the system-config-samba-1.2.48-1.fc8 package (didn't know that would violate policy). This contains a new dialog which warns about unknown Samba configuration options instead of throwing a traceback, see: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=247541 IMO, it would be better to keep the new string in without it being translated than throwing it out again. Self-Introduction: Sveinn Svavarsson

Hello I want to join in the translators team to improve the Icelandic translation of fedora and I am introducing my self now. My full legal name is Sveinn Svavarsson My fedora project username is sueno which is also my username on irc.freenode.net I live in Reykjavík which is the capital city of Iceland. I'm studying to become an electronic technician and I'm currently doing my practical education which means working and I'm working for Marel food systems I have been a fedora user for three years now and have noticed that the icelandic translation was incompleet and is getting constantly less complete probably because nobody is updating it. So I want to hop in and continue the work that has been started. I don't have much programming skills but I am eager to learn and I am not afraid of the command line so I hope I will be able to start doing some work soon. That is after I've gotten fluent with cvs and diff and those po files which I hope I will figure out soon. I considder myself good speaking Icelandic which is a special language in many ways. I noticed that there is no maintainer for Icelandic so I was wondering how do I become the maintainer? New release-notes component

Over the next day or so I would like to add a new module, "readme-live," to our CVS, to be included in the fedora-release-notes collection. This file will be included on live spins so anyone who receives one will have some clues what to do with it. The document was generously drafted by Nelson Strother, by the way; I will do an editorial pass on it in CVS and do the necessary Makefile-cobbling to get it included. Hi, In system-config-firewall, I got stuck at the following string while translating: "Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) incorporates security for network transmissions into the Internet Protocol (IP) directly. IPsec provides methods for both encrypting data and authentication the host or network it sends to. If you plan to use a vpnc server or FreeS/WAN, do not diable this option." Can someone please clarify the line: "IPsec provides methods for both encrypting data and authentication the host or network it sends to. " I am not sure if this is a typo or if I am missing some information here. :( It is string number 60, if you open the file in KBabel. Thanks a lot cheers Runa
